An innovator in design circles for more than 30 years, Waites has continued his forward-thinking collections with Remix Revolution, which was first made available at Design Spree of Lawrenceville, NJ, in April. The collection of furnishings depicts “Asian, African and classical American influences brought to a new level of arresting style and visual brilliance.”
While his work has achieved worldwide recognition, Waites’ big break happened just around the corner. As owner of New Country Gear in Frenchtown, NJ, Waites and a business partner refurbished an old barn in Erwinna, transforming it into a modern living space; their combination of traditional and contemporary styles, dubbed “American Country,” became a design sensation that is still popular today. “American Country” and Remix Revolution share the same basic idea at the heart of Waites’ philosophy: combine old with new, simple with extravagant, adding layers of style as the collection evolves. “Your tastes evolve over time, and so should your style,” he says. “As you add experience to your life, add style to your living space.”
In the future, Remix Revolution will evolve and grow according to Waites’ own changing tastes — exactly as he suggests.
